Nepal has entered the semi-finals of the ongoing AFC Solidarity Cup 2016. Nepal will take on Laos in its semis berth at 2.15 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
After the goalless draw against Timor Leste, Nepal secured 3-0 win over Brunei in its second match to advance to the semis berth of the tournament on Tuesday, November 9, 2016.
Nawayug Shrestha, Bharat Khawas and Bimal Gharti Magar were the scorer for the winning side.
Shrestha scored an opening goal in the early 10 minutes while Khawas doubled the tally in the 72nd minute as he converted Sujal Shrestha’s header into a magnificent goal. It was a corner kick by Bimal.
Bimal was awarded with a spot kick in the 80th minute as he was taken down by opponent Mohammad Najib inside the box. Bimal beautifully converted the kick into a superb goal to make 3-0 score.
Brunei toiled hard to return back the score. However, Nepal witnessed strong enough to put pressure on opponent.
Despite the win, Nepal’s coach Koji Gyotoku expressed dissatisfaction over the team. He said the team could perform more than that.
But in the earlier match against Timor Leste, the coach was satisfied with his team’s game. He said the team neither played good nor bad, it was ok.
In that tournament held at Negeri Stadium, Malaysia on Tuesday, November 5, 2016, though Nepal had created numbers of good opportunities for the score, the endeavors went in vain. Nepali team had exhibited at least four best moves to score during the match.
