The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has barred Nepali footballers from football activities for their involvement in match-fixing.
Issuing a statement on Friday, December 4, 2015, the apex body of Asian football issued bans on four footballers – Sagar Thapa, Sandip Rai, Bikash Singh and Ritesh Thapa – and an official Anjan KC.
The footballers were found guilty of violating article 62 and 69 of the AFC Disciplinary Code in relation to various friendly international A team fixtures during the period 2008-2012, according to the AFC statement. AFC Disciplinary Committee has banned these five footballers on October 16.
Similarly, the ACF along with Sportrader and Nepal Police will follow further investigations regarding the issue.
