Nepal has lost to Philippines 4-1 in its first match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers played at Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, Manila on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.
Nepal was reduced to 10-man as Bikram Lama was Red carded in the early 15th minute. Kiran Chemjong magnificently saved the first penalty.
Philippines led the match in the 21st minute through a penalty from P. Younghusband. Younghusband immediately added another within the two minutes of his first goal.
Philippines was already 3-0 within 30 minutes of the match as I. Ramsey had scored the third goal in the 28th minute.
However, Bihsal Rai scored a consolation for Nepal in the injury time of the first half. J. Patino scored another to make 4-1 in the 73rd minute.

Altogether, 24 teams will compete in the third round of AFC Asian Cup. These teams are drawn into six groups of four.

The total of 12 teams - winners and runners-up from each group will qualify for the final competition of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019. The host UAE, Qatar, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Uzbekistan, Syria, Iran and China are already in the final.
