Defending champion Railway Team India and Armed Police Force (APF) have started winning in the 4th Prime Minister Indo-Nepal Women’s Volleyball Championship 2017 on Saturday, February 25, 2017.
In the inaugural match held at Nepalgunj Stadium’s Covered Hall, Nepalgunj, Railway India defeated Nepal Police Club (NPC) team 25-12, 25-16, 25-14 to make a flying start.
Similarly, APF team beat Barsat Association Club, India, 25-17, 25-5, 25-6 in another match of the day.
Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripaili inaugurated the tournament by handing over the volleyball to the referee. The competition is being held in league-cup-knockout format.
Altogether, six teams including two from India – Railway India and Barsat Association along with Nepal’s APF Club, Nepal Police, Tribhuvan Army Club and host Mid-Western Region’s Team – are competing in the Championship.
Group A – Railway India, Nepal Police, host Mid-Western Region
Group B – APF, Barsat Association, Tribhuvan Army Club
The winner will bag Rs 111,000 while runner-up will get Rs 55,000 and third place Rs 35,000.
