The fourth edition of APF IGP National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament has kicked off at Halchowk, Kathmandu, on Sunday, January 29, 2017.
Defending champion APF made a flying start in the tournament as it registered 3-0 victory against Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center in the inaugural match of the tournament.
Under the captainship of Jyoti Chaudhary, APF proved powerful for Jawalakhel as it registered 25-20, 25-9, 25-12 easy straight wins.
Chaudhary has been leading the team APF as its captain Binita Budhathoki along with Nebika Chaudhary, Saraswoti Chaudhary, Reshma Bhandari and Usha Bista are in Malaysia for Women World Selection.
APF’s Hira KC was adjudged women of the match. Nepal Volleyball Association’s vice-chair Ranjan Khadka handed over the trophy to KC.
Altogether, six teams including – host APF, New Diamond and Jawalakhel are in Group A and Nepal Police Club, Western Region and Tribhuvan Army Club are in Group B. The final match is scheduled for February 2, 2017.
The winner will get the cash prize of Rs 250,000 while runner-up will receive Rs 125,000 and third place Rs 50,000. The best performers in different categories will also get Rs 5,000 each.
